Çetin Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP), which is located within the boundaries of Şirvan and Pervari districts of Siirt, started energy production at full capacity with a ceremony where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated via video conference.
The construction of Çetin Dam and HEPP, which is the biggest roller compacted concrete (RCC) type dam of Turkey and Europe, was completed in 2.5 years, a record period and the total installed capacity of dam is 420 MW. The body volume of the dam, whose RCC body is 165 meters high, is 4.8 million m3. The construction was completed with a total investment of 600 million dollars and it will produce 1.5 billion kWh energy per year, will make an annual contribution of $ 100 million to the Turkey’s economy.
Çetin Dam and HEPP, which is expected to make a great contribution to our national economy in terms of using our country’s domestic and renewable resources, will also greatly reduce our energy imports from abroad.
