Following the successful organization in 2013, Turkish Construction Steel Association organized an event for ’National Steel Construction Prize 2014’ and announced the results. Among 11 projects nominated for the prize, Pristina International Airport New Passenger Terminal was awarded prize in the ’National Steel Construction Prize 2014’ organization along with Kayalar Kimya Management and R&D Center Building and İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport Internal Flights Terminal Buildings upon the evaluation performed in terms of ’qualifications sought in the project’.
The projects were reviewed by the jury of ’National Steel Construction Prize 2014’ in terms of adoption of primary criteria such as features of steel material and technology and their compatibility with general purposes of architectural design, authenticity level, compatibility of architectural solutions with both the bearing system and other sub-systems (facade- shell, partitions, utility systems and circulation systems) and their capability of developing such systems (innovation feature), simple display of steel construction properties, figurativeness, revealed advantage of steel, the development level in the integration of rational solutions in bearing system design and other subsystems with the bearing system; compatibility of the building with the surrounding environment, functionality and flexibility, compatibility of the steel material/ technology with applicable national - international laws- regulations- standards, and conribution to the promotion of the use of steel technology in buildings in our country.
