The report on the situation of Syrian refugees in Turkey, prepared by the Atlantic Council in cooperation with Limak launched in Brussels, at the European Parliament following the launches in New York and Istanbul.
The roundtable hosted by Anna Maria Coazza Bildt, Member of the European Parliament welcomed Deputy Minister Faruk Kaymakcı, Limak Investments’ Chair Ebru Özdemir, Deputy Director Simone Mordue of the European Commission DG NEAR , as well as Defne Aslan Sadıklar, Director of Atlantic Council in Turkey and Country Representative.
Speaking at the roundtable, Ebru Özdemir underlined the fact that the refugee issue is not temporary and “one with long-term development implications for Turkey, for the region, and beyond”. Touching upon development aspect of the refugee situation Özdemir said “Turkey, especially in regions along the Syrian border, but also increasingly across the country, Syrians refugees are a part of the local development considerations”.
