Aiming to become a global actor in the cement industry, Limak Cement has chosen Africa for its new investments. Limak Cement sees an important opportunity in the African market and will invest US$ 50 million as first phasewith its partner Afrikbat for the new facility to be established at the Ivory Coast. Limak Holding Board Chairman Nihat Özdemir, Afrikbat S.A. CEO Edoh Jean-Claude Ayanou and a crowded committee from the Cote d’Ivoire have attended to the signing ceremony held at Ankara for the foundation of “Limak Afrika SA” company.

Limak Cement Group, aiming to enter the African market where global cement brands operate in, and Afrikbat, one of the leading companies of the Cote d’Ivoire, have signed the partnership agreement for US$ 50 million worth Cement Grinding and Packaging Facility with a ceremony held in Ankara.

During the signing ceremony held for the Cement Grinding and Packaging Facility partnership to be founded at Abidjan, the biggest city and former capital city of the Cote d’Ivoire, Limak Holding Board Chairman Nihat Özdemir stated that they are taking the first step in being a global actor and that the facility will cost around US$ 50 million as first phase. Özdemir said, “The facility to be established will have an annual capacity for 1 million tons of cement grinding and 1 million cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete production. With this facility, we will be achieving the first of our targets we set for being an important actor in the African market.” Özdemir indicated that they are planning to expand the facility by building “Block Production Facility and Prefabricated Products Factory” and added that they will export to the other African countries from the Cote d’Ivoire.

LİMAK Afrika SA will be established at an area of 120 thousand square meters that is 20 km to the Abidjan city center and city port. The foundation of the facility will be laid in December 2014 and the facility is estimated to start production in October 2015.
