Çetintepe Dam Completion

Ensuring irrigation and drinking water for Turkey’s Gaziantep

Within the scope of the Çetintepe Dam project signed with the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works on January 26, 2018, the completion of the 116-meter-high embankment dam is nearing completion. Being built on Göksu Stream in Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman province, Çetintepe Dam is the first and main unit of the GAP- Adıyaman-Göksu-Araban Project.

After the completion, the project aims to irrigate a total of 70 thousand hectares of land in the Araban Plain, Yavuzeli Plain, Besni Keysun and Besni Kızılin plains covering the provinces of Adıyaman, Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş, and to supply drinking water to Gaziantep.

In this project, 14 million 345 thousand cubic meters of body embankment and spillway productions, transmission tunnel water intake structure, shaft structure, 908 meters transmission tunnel and conduit productions have been completed and the water intake tunnel outlet structure construction has reached
90% level. Installation works for the permanent equipment of the dam are ongoing.

The project is planned to be completed in 2024.
