The Limak International Hotels and Resorts chain, which began operating in 1995, offers a different approach to the concept of holidays, which has led it to enjoy competitive success on a global scale. Limak Holding properties serve their guests not only during the summer but throughout the year, offering golf facilities and sports and convention centers in the center of Turkish tourism Antalya and in the capital Ankara. Merging professional and high quality service with outstanding architectural design, Limak hotels offer guests more than a holiday, endeavoring to make them feel special.
Limak Holding entered the tourism sector with the Arcadia Hotel in 1995, which was followed by the Limra Hotel in 1998. Limak International Hotels & Resorts was begun in 2000. We had the chance to further extend our operations with Atlantis Hotel, which was opened in 2002, Limra Park Resort in 2004, and Ambassadore Hotel - the first boutique hotel of Ankara in 2006,? Kaan Kavaloğlu, coordinator of Limak International Hotels & Resorts, told the Turkish Daily News.
Our contribution within the Limak Holding has reached 20 percent, noted Kavaloğlu, adding that the company reached its initial goal of a 5,000-bed capacity in 2006 and that the next target is a 10,000-bed capacity by 2010.
With 5 percent of English tourists, 2.5 percent of German ones, 6 percent of Israeli ones and 4 percent of Dutch visiting the Antalya region, Limak has a 3 percent share in the tourism sector, which is quite satisfactory both for the quality and the consistency of the service offered, added Kavaloğlu.
’Russian tourists exceeded German tourists in number’
In the first six months of 2008, 944,205 German tourists came to Antalya, while 871,766 Russian tourists chose the city. Holland ranked third, with 189,158 people, followed by the Ukraine, with 183,025 people, according to Kavaloğlu. German tourists constituted around 28 percent of tourists coming to Antalya in the first six months of 2008, while Russians made up nearly 26 percent.
The number of Russian tourists exceeded Germans as of July 2008, noted Kavaloğlu, highlighting that 395,235 Russian tourists came to Antalya, while 270,173 German tourists visited the city in July.
Although Antalya’s Side and Alanya districts have been popular especially with German tourists for years, I predict that Russian tourists will dominate the German ones numerically in the region. Especially Side has a great potential for this,’ noted Kavaloğlu, who added that three and four star hotels are quite promising places to take advantage of this general trend.
Kemer district will win in the future
Kemer is a promising district in the future for both Russian and German tourists, said Kavaloğlu, adding that the region has great potential for new tourism investment, not only in summer but also in winter as an alternative tourism center.
Kavaloğlu also emphasized that Turkey offers appealing activities throughout the year. Antalya’s Belek region, for example, is popular for winter tourism as well as summer tourism because the region is an important golf center in addition to its unparalleled beaches, he said, adding that it attracts thousands of tourists every year.
The resort town of Kuşadası in Aydın, on the other hand, is ideal for shopping tours. Tending to attract tourists above a certain age and income level, the district is famous for its proximity to the ancient city of Ephesus and the Yedi Uyuyanlar Cave on the outskirts of the Panayır Mountain, important both for Muslims and Christians, Kavaloğlu also noted.
