The operation of which was acquired by Çalık and Limak in 2013 KEDS’ social responsibility project in the area of education in Kosovo, KEDS Academy is aiming at providing the energy and electricity sector with qualified workforce and developing a model to combat younger population unemployment in Kosovo.

Implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Kosovo, Bogazici University Lifelong Learning Center and the University of Pristina, KEDS Academy’s first graduation ceremony was held at Pristina Emerald Hotel, with the participation of Limak Holding Chairman Mr. Nihat Ozdemir and Calik Enerji General Manager Osman Saim Dinc, Bogazici University Lifelong Learning Center Director Tamer Atabarut, Turkey’s Ambassador in Pristina Songul Ozan, USA’s Ambassador in Pristina Tracey Ann Jacobson, Kosovo’s Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Mahir Yagcilar, Pristina University Rector Anton Berishaj, student families and many guests.

One of the supporters of KEDS Academy, at the same time the co-owner of Kosovo Electricity Distribution and Supply Company, Mr. Nihat Ozdemir, Chairman of Limak, emphasized that he is happy to address everyone in such an event, stating: “Dear Students, welcome to the family of KEDS and wish you success in this new phase of your life and hug you all with warmth. I thank all those who contributed to this project and all participants who did not left us alone".

Mr. Ozdemir, stated in his speech that the Europe’s youngest country with the high rate of younger population Kosovo’s unemployment rate is nearly 30 percent and the youth unemployment rate is 50 percent above. Mr. Ozdemir stated that the project will produce a solution to this high unemployment rate problem and would be a model and a platform for the exchange of academic knowledge with Turkey.

The successful students of KEDS Academy, where the theoretical lessons are given by Bogazici University lecturers and the practical lessons are given by experienced staff of KEDS, receive a certificate arranged by Bogazici University. In addition, students also receive an internationally accepted certificate by the UK’s largest accrediting agency by Edexcel.

All students who attended the KEDS Academyalso get an opportunity of six-month internship program and to work within KEDS.
